Outdoor Activities
Lakes
Lac Pincemaille is 6 kilometres away, where there is windsailing, fishing, bathing and a playground. A small steam train runs around part of the lake, and there are several attractive picnic areas at the lakeside. The northern part of the lake is a wild life reserve which is ideal of watching a wide variety of birdlife.
There is a pleasant cycle to the lake through open countryside and woodland. Once there, you can swim, take a pedalo, play tennis, or just sit at the bar and relax ready for the return journey – gently downhill most of the way!
At Hommes there are five lakes with woodland walks, picnic areas and a refreshment bar. Suitable for swimming, boating and coarse fishing. All within easy reach of Les Mortiers.
Tennis
The local tennis courts are only 5 minutes walk from the end of our drive.
Golf
There are several golf courses within easy reach, such as Bauge and the very pretty and well-equipped course at Courcelles de Touraine. We have details of all the local courses.
Walking and cycling
The countryside is gentle and wooded and ideal for walking or cycling. The roads are not busy and the French motorists tend to respect cyclists. Bicycles are available for hire locally.
Horse riding
Horse riding is available nearby. There is an excellent and well-run riding centre which caters for all ages and organises treks through the forest. A visit to the Cadre Noir in Saumur is a must for those interested in horses.
Brocante et Puces (flea markets)
A popular Sunday pastime and a good way of finding out about French life. We keep details of the regular local brocantes.
